Incomplete stent apposition: should we appose or oppose?
نویسندگان
چکیده
ncomplete stent apposition (ISA), also known as stent alapposition, is defined most simplistically as the absence f contact between stent struts and the vessel wall not verlying a side branch. Incomplete stent apposition can ccur at the time of stent implantation—acute ISA—which ight either resolve or persist at follow-up (late-persistent SA). Patients without ISA at the time of stent implantaion but in whom ISA is detected at follow-up are deemed o have late-acquired ISA. Stent underexpansion is defined as he cross-sectional area (CSA) of the stent compared with essel size, either measured as mean reference-lumen CSA r lesion or reference-external elastic membrane CSA (1).

Delivery technique plays an important role in determining vessel wall apposition of the Enterprise self-expanding intracranial stent
BACKGROUND The Enterprise (EN) vascular reconstruction device is a self-expanding nitinol stent used as adjunctive support in wide-necked aneurysm coiling. We sought to evaluate the effect of deployment technique on how well the EN stent conforms to the vessel wall around a curve. METHODS A flow model consisting of a 3.5 mm diameter silicone tube forming a 7 mm radius curve was visualized usi...
متن کاملThe significance of incomplete stent apposition in patients undergoing stenting of internal carotid artery stenosis.
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Incomplete stent apposition after carotid angioplasty and stent placement (CAS) is often seen but little is known about how the incomplete attachment goes after stent placement. For example, some may change into restenosis around the stent edge and some may remain unchanged. The purpose of this study is to clarify the morphologic prognosis of an incomplete stent appositio...
متن کاملIncomplete stent apposition and very late stent thrombosis after drug-eluting stent implantation.
BACKGROUND Stent thrombosis may occur late after drug-eluting stent (DES) implantation, and its cause remains unknown. The present study investigated differences of the stented segment between patients with and without very late stent thrombosis with the use of intravascular ultrasound. METHODS AND RESULTS Since January 2004, patients presenting with very late stent thrombosis (> 1 year) afte...
متن کاملOptical coherence tomography findings in lesions after sirolimus-eluting stent implantation with peri-stent contrast staining.
BACKGROUND We have sometimes noted abnormal angiographic coronary dilatation, <50% of the reference vessel, at the site of sirolimus-eluting stent implantation, suggesting contrast staining outside the stent struts and named this finding peri-stent contrast staining (PSS). Little was known about optical coherence tomography findings of lesions with PSS. METHODS AND RESULTS Between May 2008 an...
متن کاملExtensive Late-Acquired Incomplete Stent Apposition After Sirolimus-Eluting Stent Implantation
Late-acquired incomplete stent apposition (ISA) is frequently observed after drug-eluting stent (DES) implantation. Most incidences of late-acquired ISA induced by positive vascular remodeling were of the focal type and occurred in a single vessel. We present an unusual case of a 45-year-old male subject diagnosed with late-acquired ISA that occurred in multiple vessels.
